Carolina Hurricanes defenseman James Wisniewski has a torn ACL and is expected to miss the next six months.
Wisniewski will have surgery on his left knee after being forced to the dressing room less than one minute into his Hurricanes debut Thursday night, a 2-1 loss to the Nashville Predators.
Carolina acquired the 31-year-old from the Anaheim Ducks in a draft-day trade for goaltender Anton Khudobin on June 27.
