Report: Colts' Hasselbeck to start vs. Texans

Andrew Luck made some considerable progress in his recovery from a shoulder injury, but his return to game action will be put on hold for at least one more week.

The Indianapolis Colts will start veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck for a second consecutive game Thursday night against the Houston Texans, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Luck was thought to have an opportunity to play after being forced to the sideline last week, and he may still attempt to throw during pregame warmups, but holding him out is the safe move with a season-long outlook in mind.

Given the long week of preparation that will follow Thursday's game, Luck should have a legitimate opportunity to make his return for a matchup with the New England Patriots on Oct. 18.

Hasselbeck completed 30-of-47 passes for 282 yards and one touchdown en route to last week's win, helping the Colts to their second win of the year in his first NFL start since 2012.

The 40-year-old is working through health issues of his own, as an illness had him hospitalized until Tuesday morning, according to Schefter. Like Luck, Hasselbeck was unable to throw in practice throughout this past week.

Josh Johnson, who first joined the club ahead of last week's game, again appears set to serve as Hasselbeck's primary backup.
