49ers' Kaepernick isn't concerned with losing starting QB job

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick hasn't played like the franchise player the team pays him to be, but he isn't concerned with his job security.

"I don't play for job security," said Kaepernick. "Whether football's here or not, I will be fine. I go out, I play to win. I'm not worried about job security when I step in this building."

Kaepernick met with head coach Jim Tomsula to discuss his tentative play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

"That was something we hit head on," Tomsula said Wednesday. "If you are, stop. Can't have it. Can't play that way. And to me, it goes to having the weight of the world on your shoulders."

The quarterback is struggling more this season than he has at any other point in his career. He threw four interceptions in Week 3's loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and has led the offense to just 10 points in the last two weeks.

Only two other quarterbacks have a worst passer rating this season than Kaepernick's mark of 67.7.

Kaepernick took responsibility for the loss to Cardinals, and admitted he didn't want to repeat the same mistakes against the Packers.

"I put our team in a bad situation in the Arizona game. I wasn't going to allow that to happen again. It cost us (Sunday), but that's something I will correct moving forward."

The 49ers' backup quarterback is former first-round pick Blaine Gabbert, who has barely seen the field since his unsuccessful time with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
