Bills sign Dan Herron; place MarQueis Gray on IR

Matthew Emmons / USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills have reached a deal with running back Dan Herron.

Herron was one of several free-agent running backs to work out for the team Tuesday afternoon. Former first-round pick Trent Richardson was also reportedly among the group.

In a corresponding move, the team placed tight end MarQueis Gray on injured reserve. Gray fractured his forearm in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants.

Herron spent last season with the Indianapolis Colts, rushing for 351 yards and a touchdown on 78 carries. He was waived by the Colts after suffering a shoulder injury in the team's final preseason game.
