Texans' Mallett to remain starter Thursday vs. Colts

Dropping a third game through four weeks to start the season won't be enough for the Houston Texans to change quarterbacks a second time.

Head coach Bill O'Brien announced Monday that Ryan Mallett will remain their starter for Thursday's matchup with the division-rival Indianapolis Colts.

Mallett was benched in favor of Brian Hoyer in Sunday's blowout loss to the Atlanta Falcons, finishing the game 12-of-27 for 150 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.

Hoyer, who earned the starting job in training camp, threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns in relief.

Sticking with the same starter is the sensible move given the short week of preparation, but a similar performance from Mallett against a weak Colts defense may give Houston no choice but to make a switch.
