Montreal Impact star striker Didier Drogba has been honoured with Major league Soccer's Player of the Month award for September following a brilliant run of form since joining the club on July 27.

Drogba's two-goal performance against D.C. United at Stade Saputo cemented the award for the former Chelsea striker, as the Ivorian goal machine has helped the Impact to an MLS club record six-game unbeaten streak (4-0-2).

With a full month of matches under his belt after two Player of the Week awards, three mentions on the league's Team of the Week, and two MLS Goal of the Week honours, the 37-year-old can consider himself acclimated to the pace of the North American top-flight.

Drogba has scored seven times in six matches for the Impact as they cling to the sixth and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference.
