Ottawa Senators forward Clarke MacArthur's status for Thursday's game won't be known until just prior to puck drop.
MacArthur is a game-time decision for the season opener against the Buffalo Sabres after suffering an injury in Saturday's preseason win over the Montreal Canadiens.
The 30-year-old left Saturday's game and spent mandatory time going through the league's concussion protocol, according to Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun.
Head coach Dave Cameron says MacArthur doesn't have a concussion, but is waiting to be medically cleared. He missed 18 games last season with a concussion.
Shane Prince will take his spot in the lineup if he is unable to play.
