Bears' DC Vic Fangio on slowing down Aaron Rodgers: 'Can we break his arm?'

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio knows his unit will have their work cut out for them Sunday trying to stop Aaron Rodgers.

"Can we break his arm or something?" Fangio joked Wednesday when asked about the Green Bay Packers quarterback's quick release, according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.

"The only guy that even comes close to release over the years is Dan Marino, and I think he is better than Marino's was, so no, he's gifted with a great release," Fangio continued. "I've coached against him a lot and seen a lot of tape of him and he never ceases to amaze you."

Rodgers has fared well against his NFC North foes over the years, posting a 12-3 record with an overall passer rating of 106.2 in 15 starts.

Fangio has had his share of success against the Packers, too, helping San Francisco to four consecutive wins over Green Bay while serving as the 49ers' defensive coordinator from 2011 to 2014. But he sees very few parallels between his time in San Francisco and his current situation with the Bears.

"That was a different team and two different seasons," Fangio said. "We've got to be able to figure out a way to do it with the group we have here.

"With a great quarterback like him, there is no one key, because there is no one way to stop a great quarterback like himself. Some people would say pressure him, but he can hurt you there. Drop a lot of guys, he can hurt you there. That's why he’s a great quarterback. There's not one way to play him. You just gotta mix it."
