Report: NFL, NFLPA haven't discussed Brady settlement since Monday; deal unlikely

The NFL and NFLPA haven't discussed a settlement of Tom Brady's four-game suspension since Monday's hearing, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.

It's unlikely the two parties will reach an agreement before the start of the regular season, Breer reports.

U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman told both sides Monday that he'd reach a decision no later than Friday. Brady's New England Patriots begin their season Sept. 10 in the league's opening game, hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It's been clear throughout the process that Berman's desired outcome is a settlement between both parties, but neither side seems willing to play along. Absent a settlement, it's possible (and perhaps likely) that the judge's ruling will be unfavorable to both sides.

Brady and his attorneys were seeking a complete abolition of the four-game suspension, while the NFL was hoping the Patriots star would admit guilt and complicity in the team's underinflation of footballs during the AFC Championship Game.
