Blues invite Scottie Upshall to training camp on pro tryout

Scottie Upshall is going to have to work for his next NHL contract.

The free-agent forward has been invited to attend St. Louis Blues training camp on a professional tryout, general manager Doug Armstrong announced Tuesday.

The 31-year-old appeared in 63 games for the Florida Panthers this past season, recording eight goals, seven assists, and 28 penalty minutes while carrying a cap hit of $3.5 million.

Drafted sixth overall by the Nashville Predators in 2002, Upshall has appeared in 552 NHL games with five teams, amassing 115 goals and 119 assists,

Upshall will join Scott Gomez, another veteran forward attending Blues camp on a tryout basis.
