Deportivo to sign ex-Newcastle hero Jonas Gutierrez; deal subject to medical

Jonas Gutierrez will move to La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna on a free transfer, subject to a medical.

The Argentinian winger's contract was terminated at Newcastle United this summer.

Gutierrez has only been back in action since March after recovering from testicular cancer and was unceremoniously dumped from the Magpies via telephone at the close of the last campaign.

The 32-year-old spent seven years on Tyneside and returns to Spanish football after a stint at Mallorca earlier in his career.
