The Seattle Seahawks have traded wide receiver Kevin Norwood to the Carolina Panthers after initially planning to cut him earlier in the day Monday, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Multiple reports indicate, the Seahawks have acquired a 2017 draft pick in the deal.

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports, the draft pick is expected to be conditional in nature, though the exact compensation is not yet known.

With Kelvin Benjamin lost for the season after suffering a torn ACL, and second-round rookie Devin Funchess recently having injury issues of his own, Norwood will be in position to earn a roster spot in Carolina.

The 2014 fourth-round selection appeared in nine games for Seattle as a rookie, recording nine receptions for 102 yards.
