The Indianapolis Colts released Donald Thomas on Monday, parting ways with the veteran guard just days after activating him from the physically unable to perform list.

Thomas was expected to compete for a starting role heading into the 2015 campaign, seemingly having made a healthy return from the multiple quad tears that forced him to sit out all but two games over the past two years.

Additional missed time throughout the preseason evidently saw him pushed down the depth chart, however, and he'll now have a chance to sign with another team as a free agent.

Veteran Lance Louis now remains the heavy favorite to earn the Colts' starting left guard spot heading into Week 1.
