Bears officially place Kevin White on PUP list

The Chicago Bears placed wide receiver Kevin White on the physically unable to perform list.

Chicago selected White with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, to build upon a depleted wide receiver group.

White underwent surgery to correct a shin injury suffered over the summer. It's eminently possible that the Bears could be without their prized rookie for the remainder of the season.

"I want to come back as soon as possible," White said on August 15 to Zach Zaidman of Bears Radio Network. "If it's this season, then great. If it's next season, then just have to wait.

White compiled a phenomenal senior campaign at West Virginia, recording 109 receptions for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson will likely receive more targets in White's absence, although it's entirely possible that quarterback Jay Cutler focuses on receiver Alshon Jeffery and tight end Martellus Bennett with greater frequency.
