Peyton Manning on Broncos offense: 'We're still very much figuring out who we are'

Through two preseason games, it's clear Peyton Manning hasn't quite found his footing in the Denver Broncos' new offense.

Manning completed 14-of-21 passes for 124 yards and one interception in Saturday night's 19-12 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, but he was also sacked three times and failed to lead the Broncos to a touchdown.

"Would we like to be a finely tuned machine going into Week 1? Sure," Manning said afterward, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. "With some newness, some different players and some different things that we're doing, that's what we're working toward."

With Emmanuel Sanders nursing a hamstring injury and an offensive line that features three starters who have yet to play in a regular-season NFL game, the Broncos' offense will likely remain a work in progress for the near future.

Manning doesn't think that will hinder the team's success, though.

"We're still very much figuring out who we are and what we're going to be as far as things we can really hang our hat on," he said. "I still think we can win games as we're developing kind of that identity."
