Manchester City's Gael Clichy, Wilfried Bony sidelined with injuries

Premier League front-runner Manchester City will have its squad depth tested this Saturday when Watford visits, as both striker Wilfried Bony and Gael Clichy are set to miss the match.

Bony is poised to miss only one match with a laceration suffered in training.

"Bony had yesterday a gash in his leg of around six or seven centimetres, so he is not able to play tomorrow (Saturday)," manager Manuel Pellegrini told reporters.

CE QUI N'A PAS ENCORE COMMENCÉ N'EST PAS FORCEMENT TERMINÉ!!! A L'OMBRE D'UN BAOBAB YA PAS D'ARBRES AUX ALENTOURS!!! DIEU SEUL SAIT CE QU'IL FAIT!!!

Based on a photo posted to Bony's official Instagram account, there were initial concerns Bony would be sidelined for an extended period. Pellegrini's comments should quell any unease among City fans.

Unfortunately for French international left-back Clichy, his injury is expected to keep him sidelined for an extended spell.

"Clichy has a problem in his ankle, so I think he will be out for around six or seven weeks," Pellegrini told reporters.

The 20-time capped Frenchman has yet to appear in a match this season, joining fellow full-back Pablo Zabaleta on City's injured list.

Aleksandar Kolarov and Bacary Sagna have filled the void left by their injured colleagues, performing admirably as Manchester's powder-blue side are top of the table through three matches without conceding a goal.

Kolarov has started at left-back in each of City's first three matches, netting the club's first goal of the season in a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.

Much like his Serb counterpart, Sagna is experiencing a return to form while deputizing for the injured Zabaleta, ultimately playing a role in the side that acquired him on a free transfer from Arsenal following the 2013-14 campaign.

After having only made nine Premier League appearances for City last season, Zabaleta's injury is a blessing in disguise for Sagna, whose pace and defensive vigor have proved assets for the club.
