Johnny Manziel will miss final 2 preseason games with elbow soreness

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel will miss the team's final two preseason games with elbow soreness, head coach Mike Pettine confirmed.

Manziel showed significant improvement in the team's first two games, going a combined 17-of-29 for a touchdown with no interceptions.

It's likely a precautionary measure to hold the former Heisman Trophy winner out. With Josh McCown penciled in as the team's starter, it may indicate that Manziel could ascend through the depth chart before Week 1.

"He'll lose out on all that real game experience, but we're very pleased with where he is," Pettine said, according to Ron Clements of The Sporting News. "I think he's upset that he's not out there. He's upset it got to this point."
