Metta World Peace on reports of possible reunion with Lakers: 'I didn't hear nothin'

The only person seemingly unaware of reports that the Los Angeles Lakers are showing interest in bringing back Metta World Peace is ... Metta World Peace.

According to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers are entertaining the possibility of bringing back the elbow-throwing brute of a small forward on a one-year contract. The 35-year-old had apparently been working out with members of the team this summer, with Kobe Bryant reportedly enthusiastic over conceivably being reunited with his former teammate.

However, the former NBA Defensive Player of the Year appeared oblivious to the rumors when approached by TMZ Sports outside of a Hollywood restaurant.

Metta World Peace -- I'm Open to Lakers Comeback ... But They Haven't Called Yet

“I didn’t hear that … I got four kids, so I didn’t hear nothin’," World Peace said when asked whether he knew of the circulating story.

If it was his representatives talking with Lakers management, as Wojnarowski noted in his report, then perhaps World Peace really is clueless of any negotiations between the two parties.

Even so, if there's ever a legitimate offer on the table, World Peace says he wouldn't be opposed to hitting the hardwood at Staples Center once again.

"Absolutely," World Peace said when asked how he'd answer team president Jeanie Buss if she offered him a job.

He averaged 9.9 points, four rebounds, and 1.4 steals in four seasons with the Lakers, winning an NBA championship with the franchise in 2010.
