Ravens' Lorenzo Taliaferro to miss multiple weeks with MCL injury

Baltimore Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro will be forced to miss multiple weeks of action after suffering an MCL injury, head coach John Harbaugh announced Monday.

Taliaferro was forced to the sidelines in Saturday night's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles after recording four carries for eight yards.

The multi-week absence could hurt Taliaferro's projected role in the offense heading into the regular season, as the veteran running back was competing with several other players to earn the backup spot behind Justin Forsett.

Rookie Javorius "Buck" Allen should slide into that No. 2 role in Taliaferro's absence. He'd likely have an opportunity to hold on to that spot throughout the season if he shows well in his early opportunities.
