Sassuolo has confirmed striker Domenico Berardi will miss the next few weeks of games after suffering a right thigh injury in the opening match against Napoli on Sunday.

Berardi left the match in the 63rd minute but not before setting up teammate Antonio Floro Flores for the first of Sassuolo's two goals in a 2-1 win.

Berardi's first assist this season.

"The findings show trauma to the quadriceps femurs in the right thigh, the severity of which will be clarified in the coming days," Sassuolo's statement read. "The injury is expected to keep him out for a few weeks."

It's a big loss for Sassuolo, which fully bought out the other half of Berardi's rights from Juventus for €10 million in June. Berardi played with Sassuolo as part of a co-ownership deal with Juve since 2012.

Last season was his best to date. The Italy U-21 international was one of only three players in Serie A with goals (15) and assists (10) in double-digits.
