Report: Bridgestone drops sponsorship of Mark Messier Leadership Award

Bridgestone will reportedly no longer serve as title sponsor of the NHL's Mark Messier Leadership Award.
A spokesman for the company confirmed the decision to Josh Cooper of Yahoo Sports on Wednesday. No new title sponsor has been announced.
The award has been handed out since the 2006-07 season, when it was presented on a monthly basis. It became a single end-of-season honor after the following season in 2008.
Bridgestone will remain a corporate partner of the NHL as the title sponsor of the annual Winter Classic.
Messier is the only player to captain two different teams to Stanley Cup championships. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007.
