'NBA 2K16' throwbacks to include Vince Carter's Raptors, T-Mac's Rockets
The greatest dunker of all time in Vince Carter and a legendary scorer in Tracy McGrady will reappear in their primes in "NBA 2K16."
Carter's 1999-2000 Toronto Raptors squad and McGrady and Yao Ming's 2007-08 Houston Rockets will be in the next installment of the NBA 2K franchise.
The teams hold a special place in the hearts of their fan bases.
The Raptors were never more popular, nor more successful, than at the turn of the millennium. Led by Carter's high-flying antics, the Raptors made their first-ever playoff appearance following a 45-win campaign.
That season, Carter catapulted the Raptors into the national spotlight with his jaw-dropping performance in the Slam Dunk Contest.
The 2007-08 Rockets rattled off a 22-game winning streak despite injuries to All-Stars McGrady and Yao, who missed 16 and 27 games apiece.
That iteration of the Rockets managed to finish with 55 wins thanks to inspiring performances by their supporting cast. Players like the "No-Stats All-Star" in Shane Battier, 6-foot-6 center Chuck Hayes, and 41-year-old Dikembe Mutombo made for an unconventional but memorable team.
