AL-leading Royals rally for 6 runs to edge high-powered Blue Jays

Josh Donaldson couldn't quite replicate the same walk-off magic Saturday he demonstrated the night before.

The Toronto Blue Jays third baseman left the tying run 90 feet away when Kansas City Royals closer Greg Holland induced a Donaldson groundout, preserving the 7-6 win.

Toronto's high-powered offense jumped out to an early 5-1 lead thanks in part to back-to-back home runs by Donaldson and Jose Bautista. Things came unglued, however, in the eighth inning when Blue Jays reliever Mark Lowe was roughed up.

Making his team debut following a deadline acquisition from the Seattle Mariners, Lowe was tagged for three runs off four hits, raising his ERA from 1.00 to 1.70. He entered the game having allowed just four runs across 36 innings this season.

Bautista, who homered twice on the afternoon, brought the Blue Jays within one in the bottom of the eighth. His solo home run was the first that Royals reliever Wade Davis has allowed since Aug. 24, 2013 - a span of 125 2/3 innings.

Recently acquired outfielder Ben Zobrist endeared himself to his new Royals teammates, launching a pair of solo home runs in his third game with Kansas City.
