Redskins' Bashaud Breeland suspended 1 game

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Washington Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland has been suspended one game by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy, the team announced Friday.

The suspension stems from Breeland's citation last summer for possession of marijuana, NFL Media's Albert Breer reports.

Breeland will be eligible to return to the Redskins' active roster following their Sept. 13 game against the Miami Dolphins. He can continue participating in all offseason and preseason practices and games.

A fourth-round pick of the Redskins in the 2014 draft, Breeland started 15 games for the team last season, finishing with 67 tackles, two interceptions, and 13 passes defended.
