Cowboys' Dez Bryant on contract: 'It's not going to change the way I act'

It was Christmas in July for Dez Bryant after agreeing to a $70-million contract. Despite the lucrative deal, though, the Dallas Cowboys wideout insists it won't change his attitude.

Bryant told reporters on Thursday his play on the field will remain his primary focus.

"It's no pressure, man," Bryant said. "It's no pressure. That deal don't make me. It don't make me. I play this game because I love this game. I don't give a damn about none of that. It's not going to change the way I play. It's not going to change the way I act."

The 26-year-old's ability to find the end zone – catching at least 12 touchdowns in each of the past three campaigns – has moved him up the ranks of the league's top receivers. However, statistics aren't Bryant's biggest concern.

"It's all about the work I put in," Bryant said. "I don't have a set goal. I really don't. You always want to be better the next year but ... it's not based off of the numbers. It's the way you physically feel and mentally. Like the maturity."

The negotiations between the two sides dragged on through the spring and most of the summer, but the delay in getting a deal done hasn't soured Bryant on the organization.

"I see myself always (as) a Cowboy at heart," Bryant said.
