Saints officially release Junior Galette

The New Orleans Saints have officially cut ties with Junior Galette, according to multiple reports.

The former New Orleans Saints pass rusher passed his physical with the team over the weekend, according to Nick Underhill of The Advocate. The physical completes the process that was necessary for Galette's release to become official.

Galette was informed of the team's intention to part ways Friday. He'd been working his way back to the field after a pectoral injury suffered earlier this offseason.

New Orleans appeared to have grown frustrated with both his reportedly negative effect in the locker room and the multiple off-field incidents that came to light over the past calendar year.

The Saints will take on substantial salary-cap hits for each of the next two years after cutting ties with Galette just one season into the long-term contract extension he signed in 2014.
