Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that star midfielder Franck Ribery will miss the start of the club's Bundesliga title defense.
Bayern, who are currently on a pre-season tour of China, announced the setback in Ribery's recovery today.
An ankle injury has sidelined Ribery since he first injured it during last season's Champions League match with Shakhtar Donestsk, on March 11, 2015.
In Ribery's absence, Guardiola will likely opt to employ new signing Douglas Costa from Shakhtar on the right wing.
