Mark Sanchez invites Eagles players to San Diego to train

With Sam Bradford recovering from a torn ACL, it was Mark Sanchez who took command of the Philadelphia Eagles' first-team offense during OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

And by the sounds of it, Sanchez won't be giving up his post so easily.

Sanchez has invited key members of the Eagles' offense to San Diego to train ahead of camp, Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com reports. Among those in attendance are quarterback Matt Barkley; quarterback-turned-wide receiver G.J. Kinne; running backs Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles; receivers Jordan Matthews, Quron Pratt, Rasheed Bailey, and Seyi Ajirotutu; and tight end Andrew Gleichert.

These sorts of training sessions are nothing new for Sanchez. During his time with the New York Jets, he would hold annual players-only passing camps in Southern California.

Bradford is the presumed favorite to open the season as the starting quarterback, but head coach Chip Kelly has also made it clear that the best player will win the job.

Sanchez played some of the best football of his career in Kelly's system last season and drew rave reviews throughout the spring, so there's certainly an opportunity for him to claim the role.
