Steven Souza: (Finger) Placed On DL

Souza (finger) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Although Souza's injury isn't believed to be serious, the Rays will let him rest until after the All-Star break, with the DL stint ruling him out until at least July 21. He homered against the Yankees on Sunday, but Souza has otherwise struggled badly at the plate since the end of May, tallying 19 hits (.171 batting average) and 40 strikeouts in 111 at-bats. His absence will leave more playing time for Brandon Guyer and Grady Sizemore.
