Orioles activate second baseman Jonathan Schoop

CHICAGO (AP) The Baltimore Orioles activated second baseman Jonathan Schoop from the 60-day disabled list on Sunday.

Schoop hit .259 with three home runs and seven RBIs in nine games to begin the season before he went on the 15-day disabled list on April 18 for a sprained right knee.

Schoop was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on June 16. He hit .265 with two doubles, four home runs and seven RBIs in nine rehabilitation games between Double-A Bowie and Class A Frederick.

''He's done everything possible,'' Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. ''He's probably in the best shape of his life.''

To make room for Schoop, the Orioles optioned second baseman Ryan Flaherty to Triple-A Norfolk. He hit .248 with three home runs and 20 RBIs in 51 games.
