Perez will rest for the first time since June 21, snapping a streak of 12 consecutive starts. The 25-year-old catcher could probably benefit from some extra time off during the upcoming All-Star break, but that luxury isn't likely to be afforded to him given that he's the American League's leading vote-getter at his position and is expected to start in the Midsummer Classic.
