Cubs' Soler activated from DL, batting 6th against Marlins

Jorge Soler is set to rejoin the Chicago Cubs after missing more than a month with a sprained left ankle.

The Cubs slugger, who's been sidelined since June 3, was activated from the disabled list prior to Sunday's series finale against the Miami Marlins. He's batting sixth and playing right field.

Soler appeared in four rehab games, including a full nine innings Friday at Triple-A Iowa. Despite his going only 2-for-13 over that span, Cubs manager Joe Maddon sounded unconcerned about the numbers.

"I don’t worry about that stuff," Maddon told MLB.com's Carrie Muskat. "To me, it's a matter of if he's healthy and he's seeing the ball, what does his timing look like, those are the kind of things you're trying to get from the guys down there."

Prior to going on the disabled list, the rookie was batting .265 with four homers and 19 RBIs through 49 games.
