Diamondbacks' Corbin to make first start since 2013 Saturday

PHOENIX (AP) Arizona left-hander Patrick Corbin is to start Saturday against Colorado in his first big league appearance in more than 1 1/2 years.

''The stars aligned,'' manager Chip Hale said Friday. ''He's ready to go. His arm's ready. He's physically ready and mentally ready, then get him going.''

Corbin was an NL All-Star in 2013, when he went 14-8 with a 3.41 ERA and 178 strikeouts in his first full big league season. He had Tommy John surgery on March 25, 2014.

Corbin, who turns 26 later this month, has not appeared in a regular-season game since Sept. 27, 2013, against Washington. He was 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA in four minor league injury rehabilitation starts, and Arizona originally intended to give him one more minor league outing.

He will be limited to no more than 90 pitches against the Rockies, and Hale said Arizona's goal is not to let Corbin throw more than 100 pitches in a game this season.
