Atlanta Braves rookie Manny Banuelos' major-league debut has come to an inauspicious end.

The 24-year-old departed Thursday's start against the Washington Nationals in the sixth inning after throwing 5 2/3 shutout innings while recording seven strikeouts. The Braves announced that he was experiencing cramping and dehydration.

Banuelos was visited at the mound by the team's trainer and manager Fredi Gonzalez after hitting two batters and was subsequently removed from the game.

The left-hander posted a 2.29 ERA and 1.22 WHIP to go with 69 strikeouts in 82 2/3 innings in Triple-A prior to his call up.
