Ex-Cardinal John Abraham out on $500 bond after facing battery charge

Former NFL outside linebacker John Abraham posted $500 bond Thursday to be released from DeKalb County Jail. Abraham turned himself in to police upon facing a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from a Feb. 28 encounter at a strip club.

Abraham was booked into county jail Thursday and was released upon the $500 bond an hour later, according to Steve Visser of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The 37-year-old allegedly struck Vladmir Ako several times at a Brookhaven, Ga., strip club on Feb. 28. Ako alleged that Abraham was his business partner.

Abraham last played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2014. However, the five-time Pro Bowler suffered a season-ending concussion in the team's opening game and many consider a return to football unlikely despite his pedigree.

If Abraham retired, his 133.5 career sacks would rank as the 10th-best total of all time.
