Jimmy Hayes: Traded to Bruins

Hayes was traded to the Bruins on Wednesday in exchange for forward Reilly Smith and the contract of Marc Savard, ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun reports.

Analysis:

Hayes is a restricted free agent, meaning the Bruins will need to negotiate a new contract with him in order to retain his services for the coming season. The team shouldn't have too much difficulty agreeing to terms with the 25-year-old, a local boy who played three seasons at Boston College. Hayes demonstrated some prowess has a goal scorer last season with Florida, finding twine 19 times in 72 games. He could provide a direct replacement for Reilly Smith on one of the Bruins' top three lines.
