Justin Williams signed a two-year contract with Washington, Pierre LeBrun of ESPN reports.

Williams signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract with the Capitals on Wednesday, Pierre LeBrun of ESPN reports.

Analysis:

Williams is coming off an 18-goal, 23-assist performance last season with the Kings, and is expected to fill a wing spot on the Capitals first or second line that was vacated by unrestricted free agent Joel Ward. The 2014 Conn Smythe Trophy winner could see his production trend upward if he's able to find himself on the ice frequently with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom.
