Maple Leafs sign Daniel Winnik to 2-year contract

Daniel Winnik is heading back to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Toronto and Winnik agreed to terms on a two-year contract Wednesday. Winnik recorded 25 points in 58 games with the Maple Leafs last season before being dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the trade deadline.

The 30-year-old posted nine points in 21 games with Pittsburgh.

The average annual value of Winnik's new contract is $2.25 million, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
