Pateryn signed a two-year, $1.6 million contract extension with the Canadiens on Wednesday, CTV Montreal reports. "Greg is a young defenseman who has developed very well. He enjoys the physical play and brings more depth to our defensive group," GM Marc Bergevin noted of the blueliner.
Analysis:
In 17 regular-season games with the Canadiens this past season, Pateryn didn't record a point, though the 25-year-old defender did manage three helpers in seven playoff games. He'll battle for a third-pairing role with the Habs in training camp.
