The Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics are aiming to sign restricted free-agent forward Jae Crowder, who split the 2014-15 season between the two clubs after being moved in the Rajon Rondo deal.

Boston and Dallas are the front-runners in the Crowder chase, according to RealGM's Shams Charania.

At 6-foot-7, 240 pounds, Crowder has quickly built a reputation for being a pesky defender with the ability to get to the rim.

During the Celtics' first-round playoff matchup versus the Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers, Crowder was charged with guarding LeBron James. He also contributed 10.8 points, five rebounds, and one steal per game during the series.
