Caron Butler's second stint with his hometown team didn't last long.

The Milwaukee Bucks have waived Butler and Shawne Williams, the Los Angeles Times' Eric Pincus reported Tuesday.

Both players were initially acquired by the Bucks in the trade that sent Ersan Ilyasova to the Detroit Pistons.

Waiving Butler and Williams, who were both on fully non-guaranteed contracts, will save the Bucks nearly $6 million.

Butler, 35, showed his age last season, averaging 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and one assist in approximately 20 minutes per game.

It was recently reported that the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, and San Antonio Spurs were interested in the 13-year veteran forward.

After learning of Butler's release, Clippers president and head coach Doc Rivers did his due diligence.

According to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, the Cleveland Cavaliers have entered the mix as well.

Williams, 29, has struggled to find a niche in the league since being selected 17th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 2006 draft. He has career averages of 5.6 points, three rebounds, and 0.7 assists.

Both players are unrestricted free agents.
