Danny Blind has been named manager of Netherlands following the departure of Guus Hiddink.

The announcement comes two days after Hiddink stepped down from his role following the country's poor performances during the European qualifying stage.

Blind, the father of Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind, is believed to have signed a deal that will keep him in charge of the Dutch until 2018, according to EuroSport.

He was originally expected to take over the head-coaching duties following the 2016 European Championship. Holland, however, have struggled mightily since finishing third at the World Cup and have only registered three victories in six qualifying matches to leave them three points out of an automatic qualifying position.
