Jets, Stafford agree to 2-year deal

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Jets and forward Drew Stafford agreed on Tuesday to a two-year contract worth $8.7 million with an average annual value of $4.35 million.

Stafford will be an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of this new pact.

The 29-year-old right-handed shooting winger split last season between Buffalo and Winnipeg, totaling 18 goals and 25 assists in 76 games. Acquired by the Jets on Feb. 11, he completed the season with nine goals and 10 assists in 26 appearances, then posted a goal and one assist in a four-game, opening-round loss to the Ducks.

Since breaking into the NHL in 2006 with the Sabres, the North Dakota product has produced 322 points (145G, 177A) over 563 regular-season tilts.
