Analysis:
The Eagles moved Thurmond to safety this offseason, and while he was initially expected to compete for a starting job, it now seems he may essentially be handed one. Second-round rookie Eric Rowe will compete for a starting spot at cornerback, and the Eagles' other options to play safety are underwhelming. Thurmond's role probably won't be conducive to piling up tackles, given that he's on the smaller (and faster) side of the safety spectrum.
