Nestrasil signed a two-year, $1.825 million contract with the Hurricanes on Monday, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Analysis:

The 24-year-old split his first NHL season with the Red Wings and Hurricanes, tallying seven goals and 13 assists across 54 games. Nestrasil, who was claimed off waivers by the Hurricanes on Nov. 20, ended up leading the team in plus/minus rating, and likely would have posted bigger numbers had he not been felled by the injury bug. He could have a shot at claiming a second- or third-line role for the 'Canes in 2015-16.
