Capitals re-sign Beagle for 3 more years

Arlington, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Capitals re-signed forward Jay Beagle to a three-year, $5.25 million contract on Monday.

Beagle, 29, set career highs in goals (10), assists (10) and points (20) while playing in 62 games for the Capitals last season.

"We are pleased to re-sign Jay to a new three-year contract," Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan said. "Jay is a hard-working player who plays multiple positions and is an excellent face-off man and penalty killer. Jay has improved steadily since joining our organization and has always brought his game to a different level in the playoffs."

Signed by the Capitals as an undrafted free agent in March 2008, Beagle has registered 23 goals and 47 points in 254 career games.
