The Philadelphia Phillies will introduce the newest member of their leadership team Monday afternoon as they attempt to rejuvenate a franchise thrown into disarray in recent years.

Andy MacPhail, the veteran executive who previously served as general manager of the Minnesota Twins before stints as president of both the Chicago Cubs and Baltimore Orioles, will be introduced Monday at Citizens Bank Park by ownership partner John Middleton and president Pat Gillick.

The 64-year-old is expected to replace Gillick as president, according to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, wherein he'll be tasked with leading the club through a critical transition phase.

Not only will MacPhail oversee potential deals involving several key assets at next month's trade deadline - including Cole Hamels, Jonathan Papelbon, and Aaron Harang - but he'll also determine the fate of longtime general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., whose contract expires at season's end.

MacPhail will also endeavor to restore credibility to an organization that has lost considerable luster of late. On Friday, manager Ryne Sandberg tendered his resignation following three miserable seasons at the helm. The Phillies currently own MLB's worst record at 27-50 and haven't enjoyed a winning season since 2011.
