Dodgers turn to Bolsinger against Diamondbacks

(SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Bolsinger looks to pick up his first victory since beating his former Arizona team earlier this month as his Los Angeles Dodgers begin a three-game set with the Diamondbacks on Monday night.

Bolsinger broke into the majors last season with the Diamondbacks, making 10 appearances with nine starts, and faced his old club on June 8 for the first time. He picked up a 9-3 victory, scattering two runs and fanning eight over seven innings.

The righty hasn't won since and has failed to go longer than 5 1/3 innings over three outings. He is coming off a no-decision versus the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, yielding a pair of runs with six strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings. That left Bolsinger 4-2 on the year with a 2.95 earned run average.

The Dodgers come into this series with a one-game lead over the San Francisco Giants for first place in the NL West. They have won four of their past five overall, winning Sunday's rubber match of a three-game set with the Miami Marlins by a 2-0 margin.

Zack Greinke won for the first time in 10 starts as he allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out six over 7 2/3 innings. Adam Liberatore finished the eighth inning and Kenley Jansen recorded his 11th save.

"A lot of the stuff was working, and I didn't have too many guys on base," said Greinke.

Howie Kendrick and Adrian Gonzalez combined for five of Los Angeles' seven hits and both drove in one run. Yasiel Puig walked three times in his first start since Tuesday due to a torn callus on his left hand.

Allen Webster will make his fourth start of the season for the Diamondbacks and could be pitching to save his spot in the rotation.

Webster joined the Arizona staff on June 13 and pitched well in a 4-2 win over San Francisco, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings.

However, the righty was tagged for six runs over 5 1/3 innings in a setback to the Los Angeles Angels five days later, then yielded another five runs (3 earned) over just 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision versus Colorado.

Webster has a 6.46 ERA and will face the Dodgers for the first time. Webster was drafted by Los Angeles in 2008 and was traded to Boston on Aug. 25, 2012 as part of a massive deal that netted the Dodgers Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez and Nick Punto.

The Diamondbacks haven't won back-to-back contests since a four-game run from June 12-15, but can do so tonight after snapping a three-game slide with Sunday's 6-4 win over the San Diego Padres.

Jake Lamb, Welington Castillo and David Peralta all homered in the win, while Chase Anderson yielded four runs on five hits over seven frames in getting the victory.

"My fastball command wasn't that good, so I had to use my off-speed pitches more than I would have liked," said Anderson. "Putting up six runs made it a little easier on me."

The Dodgers have won seven in a row over the Diamondbacks.
