MLS Game Summary - Colorado at Kansas City

Kansas City, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Sporting Kansas City secured a fifth successive home victory on Saturday as the club notched a 2-0 win over the Colorado Rapids at Sporting Park.

Krisztian Nemeth netted his seventh goal of the campaign in the 32nd minute to put Sporting in front, while an own goal from Colorado's Sam Cronin doubled the lead in the 64th, leaving the Rapids without a win in their last six outings.

Chance Myers made his first appearance in the starting lineup since May 2014 for Sporting, and he nearly scored in the fifth minute when he sent a header just over the crossbar from Benny Feilhaber's corner kick.

Luis Solignac and Lucas Pittinari nearly combined to level the match in the 21st but Pittinari's deflected shot went inches wide of the post.

The opener arrived 11 minutes later with Myers playing provider as he drove a nice cross through the face of goal to the back post for Nemeth to finish off from close range.

Solignac went close in the 54th when he cut back past a defender and sent a shot whistling past the right post.

But the Rapids went down two goals in the 64th and had no way back when Feilhaber's near-post cross was redirected into his own net by Cronin.
