Coyotes trade Gagner to Flyers for Grossmann, Pronger's contract

Sergei Belski / USA Today

The Arizona Coyotes added some experience to their blue line by trading Sam Gagner and a conditional pick to the Philadelphia Flyers for Nicklas Grossmann.

Grossmann has 531 games of NHL experience and instantly becomes the most senior member of the Coyotes' defense. He has one more year remaining on a contract paying him $3.5 million.

Philadelphia retains $500,000 of Grossmann's contract in the deal, while Arizona takes on Chris Pronger's contract, which should help the Coyotes reach the salary cap floor.

Gagner recorded 41 points with Arizona last season after spending the first seven years of his career with the Edmonton Oilers. He is scheduled to earn $5 million in the final year of a contract with a cap hit of $3.2 million.
